
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born April 24, 1982, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American performer, songwriter and TV personality who emerged as a pop-rock star after having won the telecast talent competition American Idol on the show in. Clarkson was born within Burleson Texas (a town located just outside of Fort Worth), where her singing abilities were initially noticed by her seventh grade singing teacher. Clarkson dropped out of high school to relocate to Los Angeles where she failed to get a job in the entertainment business. When she returned in Texas in 2002, Clarkson competed on the The Fox Broadcasting Corporation's American Idol. This singing competition gave viewers the chance to vote on their favorite performer. Clarkson was loved by viewers for her charismatic voice and wit. Clarkson took home $1 million and also a contract recording deal together with RCA to be her reward.
