Salma Hayek

SalmaSalma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actress and producer. Her career began in Mexico with her starring role in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) for which she earned an Ariel Award nomination. She quickly made herself known in Hollywood with appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal of Frida the painter in Frida (2002) the film that she also co-produced, produced by Hayek, made Hayek the first Mexican actress to be awarded the Academy Award [6]. The film also brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films and acted in action-oriented movies like Once Upon a Time in Mexico in subsequent years.
